MEANING OF AL-FATTAH IN LANGUAGE

Ibn Fâris rahimahullah explained that the correct origin of this name indicates the opposite meaning of closing. Then from the origin of this meaning, other meanings of this word are taken, such as judging (deciding), victory and success.

Another scholar, Al-Fairuz Abâdi rahimahullah explained that this name literally means al-hakim (who decides the law). His servants, there are also those who say (meaning), The One who gives law among His servants.

EXPLANATION OF THE MEANING OF AL-FATTAH

In elaborating the word of Allah Azza wa Jalla الْفَتَّاحُ الْعَلِيمُ (And He is the All-Decision, All-Knowing) which contains the name al-Fattâh, Imam Ibn Jarîr ath-Tabari rahimahullah said, "Allâh (He is) the Most the judge, the All-Knower of the law (right and just) among His servants, because nothing (of their condition) is hidden from His sight, and He does not need witnesses to determine who is right and who is wrong." .

So, the meaning of al-Fattâh is the One Who decides the law between His servants with the laws in His Shari'a, and the laws (statutes) in His destiny, as well as the laws of al-jaza' ( reward for good and bad deeds), Who Opens the eyes of the honest (righteous) hearts with His gentleness, Opens the doors of their hearts to know, love and always return (repent) to Him, Opens the doors of mercy Him and various kinds of sustenance, and make it easy for them the causes for achieving good in this world and the hereafter. Allah Azza wa Jalla says:

Whatever Allah has bestowed upon mankind in the form of mercy, no one can withhold it; and whatever He holds back, no one will be able to release it after that [Fâthir/35:2]. In more detail, Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman as-Sa'di rahimahullah explained the meaning of the name of the great Allâh Subhanahu wa Ta'ala by saying, "al-Fattâh has two meanings:

First: return to the meaning of al-hukmu (to judge/decide) ), (that is) who decides and establishes laws for His servants with His Shari'a, and decides their cases by rewarding those who obey Him and (inflicting) punishment on those who do disobedience, in this world and the hereafter, based on the words of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala:

قُلْ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَنَا رَبُّنَا ثُمَّ يَفْتَحُ بَيْنَنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَهُوَ الْفَتَّاحُ الْعَلِيمُ

Say: “Our Lord will gather us all together, then He will judge between us in the right way. And He is the Judge, the All-Knowing." [Sabâ'/34:26] And He says:

رَبَّنَا افْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَنْتَ خَيْرُ الْفَاتِحِينَ

O our Lord, judge between us and our people with justice (just) and You are the Best Judge [al-A'raf/7: 89] The first verse (meaning) His judgment (law) for the servants Him on the Day of Judgment, while the second verse (meaning His judgment/law) in the world by helping (glorifying) al-haq (truth) and its adherents, and degrading falsehood and its adherents, and inflicting various kinds of torments on them.

The second meaning: It is He who opens all the doors of goodness for His servants, (as) the word of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala:

مَا يَفْتَحِ اللَّهُ لِلنَّاسِ مِنْ رَحْمَةٍ فَلَا مُمْسِكَ لَهَا

Whatever Allah has bestowed upon mankind in the form of mercy, no one can hold it back.” [Fâthir/35:2] It is He Who opens (the doors) the goodness of the world and religion for His servants, by opening their hearts. -the hearts of His chosen ones who have been locked with His tenderness and care, and adorn their hearts with the knowledge of divinity (tawhid and correct understanding of the most beautiful names and His most perfect attributes) and the essence of faith (in Him), which (all of that) will improve (perfect) their condition (religion) and make them istiqomah (remain steadfast) on the straight path.

It is He Who opens (the doors of) the goodness of the world and religion for His servants, by opening the hearts of those He chooses who have been locked with His tenderness and care, and adorning their hearts with knowledge of divinity (tawhid and correct understanding of the most beautiful names and His most perfect attributes) and the essence of faith (in Him), which (all of that) will improve (perfect) their condition (religion) and make they are istiqomah (stay strong) on the straight path.

More specifically than all of that, Allah Almighty has opened up knowledge about divinity (tawhid and correct understanding of the most beautiful names and His perfect attributes), spiritual goodness, a bright light (heart), and correct understanding and feeling (towards His religion) for those who love Him and always confront Him Allâh Azza wa Jalla also opens for His servants the doors of sustenance and the factors to get it.

Allâh Azza wa Jalla provides for those who fear sustenance and ways to get it unexpectedly, He gives to those who put their trust (surrender to Him) more than what they ask for and hope for, making it easy for them. they (overcome) all difficult affairs, and open closed doors (problem solving)”.

Based on the elaboration of the meaning of the beautiful name Allâh Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, we know the secret of why many scholars have given the title of their writings with the attribute of Allâh al-fath, because they pay attention to the meaning of this great name, which is with it. they hope that Allâh Azza wa Jalla will open the doors of knowledge that is beneficial to them and facilitate the correct understanding of the knowledge they convey to this ummah .

THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE NATURE OF AL-FATH (ALMIGHTY DECIDED/JUNNING) BELONGS TO ALLAH SUBHANAHU WA TA'ALA

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim rahimahullah said : Likewise al-Fattâh includes His names (the most beautiful) And al-Fath in his attributes His attributes are of two kinds: Al-fath (which means) establishing the law, namely the Shari'a of Allah and al-fath (which means determining) the provisions of destiny, this is the second al-fath Ar-Rabb (Allâh Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) The Most Giver decision with these two meanings With justice and goodness from ar-Rahman (The Most Expansive of His Mercy)

Shaykh 'Abdur Rahman as-Sa'di rahimahullah when explaining the verses of the poem above, he said: "al-Fattâh is al¬ -Hakam (Supreme Severing Law), al-Muhsin (Supreme Giver of goodness) and al-Jawwâd (Most Generous).

The nature of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala al-fath is of two kinds: The first: (the nature of) al-fath (which means deciding) the law in religion and the law of reward (human deeds). The second: He is the one who determines the law (determination) of destiny (for all His creatures).

So (the nature of) al-fath (deciding) the law in religion is (the provision of) His Shari'a (which He conveyed) through the mouth of His Messengers sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam (which contains) all the things needed by the servants of Allah.

Him (to draw closer to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) and to remain istiqomah (steadfast) on the straight path. As for (the nature of) al-fath in the law of reward (human deeds) is a judgment (His law) against the Prophets sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam and their opponents (da'wah), as well as against His beloved servants and enemies. their enemies, by glorifying and saving the Prophets sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam and their followers, and humiliating and torturing their enemies.

Likewise, His judgment and judgment on the Day of Judgment against all creatures when the deeds of all humans are fulfilled.

As for (the second), determining destiny (for all His creatures) are (all) destiny provisions (which He applies) to all His servants, in the form of good and evil, benefit and harm, as well as gifts and obstacles. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says:

Whatever Allah has bestowed upon mankind in the form of mercy, then no one can withhold it; and whatever He holds back, no one will be able to release it after that. And He is Mighty, Most Wise [Fâthir/35:2]

In that way, the meaning of ar-Rabb (Allah) Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is the Most Decision-giver, All-Knowing, He opens for servants His servant who obeys the treasury of His grace and goodness, and opens His enemies the opposite of it, all of that with His virtue (grace) and justice”.

POSITIVE EFFECTS AND BENEFITS OF BELIEVE IN THE NAME OF ALLAH AL-FATTAH

True faith in His almighty name will make a servant always face himself and pray to Him solely that He will open for him the doors of taufik, lawful sustenance and mercy Him, as well as open his chest to accept all the goodness in Islam. Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala says:

So what are those whose hearts Allah has opened (to) accept the religion of Islam and then they receive light from their Lord (the same as those who harden their hearts)? So it is a big accident for those who harden their hearts to remember Allah.

They are in clear error [az-Zumar/39:22] Imam al-Qurtubi rahimahullah said: "Opening (the doors of goodness from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) and spaciousness (to accept the goodness of Islam) there is no limit (very broad), every believer gets a share of it.

The biggest share was obtained by the Prophets sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam, then after them were the saints (beloved of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala), then the scholars, then the lay people from among the believers.

Only the disbelievers who are not given a share of it by Allah”. Included in the meaning of asking Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala in His noble name, the prayer taught by the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam when entering and leaving the mosque. Rasûlullâh sallallaahu 'alaihi wa sallam said: "When one of you enters the mosque then he should say (prayer):

اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ

O Allah, open for me the doors of Your mercy And when he comes out (from the mosque) he should say (prayer):

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

O Allah, indeed I ask You (the grace of) goodness from You.

So grace, glory and goodness are entirely in the hands of Allah Almighty, He opens (the doors of goodness) and makes it easy for whom He wills, and all this includes the positive effects and consequences of believing in His noble name.
